Green roofs signi cantly reduce surface temperatures and can retain warmth in winter. A multi-functional approach, including green roofs and solar panels is also feasible, particularly with the developments in the design and performance of solar panels. Further information, including costings and practical information is available on our website. Our next open information session will be on 15th cafe a erwards! Amid news of surges in sustainable energy generation in Europe work continues locally on the development of community energy. WaterCAN members attended an a ernoon at the University of Southampton organised by CPRE Hampshire looking at the potential for solar panels on roo ops and car parks. Research commissioned by CPRE suggests that more than half of solar panels required to meet net zero targets could be tted on roof tops and car parks. Our Community Energy lead has been meeting with the University of Southampton who are working on standalone recharging stations which are ideal for car parks and don’t need grid access. Current plans are to trial these in Marwell Zoo car park. For further information on the above and much more check out our website: e-voice.org/waterCAN, or our Facebook page or email: watercan2024@gmail.com Dibden Purlieu before Dibden Purlieu after July at 7pm in the Methodist Church hall behind the Soul Cafe in North Road Dibden Purlieu.
