It was Captains-day which meant that their Captain Dave Wilson could set up any game that he chose. Dave decided to play a ‘Shambles’. e game is similar to a ‘Scramble’ with some unusual tweeks (it would take too long to explain here but is essentially a fun game). One unusual feature was that everyone had to tee o on the rst tee using an old driver that Dave had obtained from the Marchwood Tip. (Some amazing shots were witnessed). Dave also opened the competition up to all Bramshott Hill Club members. e intention of the day was to raise funds for the two charities that Dave had chosen to support this year, namely, Oakhaven Hospice and Wetwheels, a charity boat that runs out of Hamble taking disabled and disadvantaged people for a day out on the water. On completion of the competition a meal was served in the club house where speeches were made, prizes presented and of course the obligatory ra e was run to raise more money. ‘Café 11’ the refreshment tent set up next to the eleventh green had some very tasty snacks mostly donated by members. A collection box for voluntary donations raised £157.20 which helped boost the total collected. A total of fifty-seven players took part and a very enjoyable day was had by all. The results were as follows: 1st Kev Boot, Brett Par and Kenny Vine, 2nd Alan Williams, Dallas Nicholson and John Yapp, 3rd Alan Bell, Ron Smith and Graham Blomfield. £725.20 was raised on the day and this will go into the Captain’s charity fund with the total fund divided between the two charities at the end of the year. The first team about to tee off Mike Wells, Brian Cox, Gary Howe More players eagerly awaiting their turn As Dave described it: “Fifty-Seven players went out to play golf and have some fun and in so doing raised £725.20 for charity not a bad result” well done all. Well done Dave a superb day and well organised.
