Following nomination by the employees who put forward this community project. Waitrose has been at the heart of the community since the 1970’s and through their community matters scheme has provided financial support for many local organisations. Stephen Corbett Branch manager for the Hythe and Romsey Waitrose Stores presented a cheque for £5625 and confirmed that in addition local Waitrose Partners (staff) had offered to volunteer to work on the forthcoming facelift project to enhance the entrance to the Pier. Peter King from the Hythe Pier Heritage Association said : “We are absolutely delighted to receive this support from Waitrose; it represents another demonstration of the strong level of support that exists right across this community for the Pier Train and Ferry.
