A er a glass of bubbly in the cloister, a delicious 4 course dinner was enjoyed by all, followed by a very humorous and interesting talk given by Director Chef of Lime Wood Hotel, Luke Holder. Luke, who attended with his wife Carin, talked about his early life, his travels around the world and the di erent countries he worked and cooked in before settling at Lime Wood in Lyndhurst. His delight in, and passion for, cooking was unmistakable. e evening included a ra e of many wonderful prizes and a silent auction. All the prizes and auction lots were donated by local businesses; their support and generosity received special thanks from Hythe & Waterside President David Saunders in his closing address.  e evening raised just under £5,000 for local, national and international Rotary Charities. “I would like to thank everyone who worked so hard to make this evening such a great success.” said President David. “To raise so much money at such an enjoyable event is quite an achievement. Thank you all”. It’s not too late to register for the Hythe and Waterside Rotary Annual Charity Walk at Beaulieu on Sunday 25th June.  is is your chance to either raise money for your charity or club or simply enjoy the countryside with your family and friends. Why not take the dog? anks as always go to Lord Montagu who kindly allows the walk to take place in parts of the Beaulieu estate not normally open to the public and to the Countryside Education Trust who support this event each year and donate the use of the Tree House where refreshments are provided for all participants, by Hythe & District Inner Wheel, at the end of the walk. As well as all the beautiful surroundings, participants can also take part in the famous ‘Bug Hunt’ where there will be hidden bugs galore for you to  nd!! is is a real friendly fun event for everyone, so why not go along and join in? Check out the Walk at: www. walkwithrotary.org.uk STEAM OVER THE YEARS e Railway Club of the New Forest are meeting on Friday 30th June in the Forest Hall, Brockenhurst Village Hall, Highwood Road, Brockenhurst SO42 7RY. For Steam Over the Years on the Bluebell Railway and on the Watercress Line. e presentation of digital images by Tony Storey will focus on steam locomotives and steam hauled trains photographed from the early days of these railways to the present time. He has been privileged to have volunteered on the Bluebell Railway during the early 1960’s, and on the Watercress Line for the past fourteen years. is experience has given him good operational knowledge and provided opportunities for his photography, which he will enjoy sharing with all present.
