Jazz solos included Harlem Nocturne for alto sax and Lullaby of Birdland on the clarinet. A highlight was a medley of Abba songs including Dancing Queen, Mama Mia and Fernando. Audience participation was enjoyed with a number of Sea Shanties. e nale was a stirring rendition of Lord of the Dance. e band rehearses on Monday’s in Lymington and present a number of concerts throughout the year. ey are friendly ensemble from a fairly wide geography and would love to hear from woodwind, New Forest Steampunks Launch: A Splendid Affair at The Stag Hotel, Lyndhurst e New Forest Steampunks (NFS) group celebrated their grand launch with all the air and Victorian charm be tting their splendid identity. Held at e Stag Hotel in Lyndhurst, this event was a delightful fusion of gears, corsets, and camaraderie. Raffle for a Noble Cause: e highlight of the a ernoon was a ra e, with all proceeds generously donated to Angus Harley, esteemed director of the New Forest Heritage Association. e NFS community believes in giving back to their forested haven, and this act of charity exempli es their commitment. Growing Strong: With 184 members already onboard, NFS is poised to become a vibrant hub for steampunk enthusiasts. eir Facebook page buzzes with activity, drawing followers who share their passion for retrofuturistic aesthetics, stylish Victorian inspired attire and inventive contraptions.
