A New Forest Romany Heritage Exhibition, re ecting 500 years of history, is taking place on 25th, 26th and 27th May, 10am to 4pm each day at East Boldre Village Hall, SO42 7WD. e exhibition is largely due to the work of local man, Tony Johnson, whose fascination with Romany history in the New Forest, has led him to spend over 40 years collecting and archiving a treasure trove of photos. Sharing his interest, Stephen Antczak, has joined Tony in researching the history of the New Forest Romany for the exhibition. Both Tony and Stephen volunteer at the New Forest Heritage Centre. Many of the photos in the exhibition have never been on display before, and will show a way of life that was largely stopped in the 20th Century due to the in ux of people moving to the Forest from London and other big cities. e exhibition will document the arrival of the Romany to England, their history and culture (horses, cra s, arts and beautiful painted wagons), as well as their lasting connections to the local area. is will include the more challenging aspects of history - when the Romany were put into compounds within the Forest. Tony and Stephen hope that the exhibition will educate people and dispel ignorance through celebrating a APPEAL FOR HELP from Langley Hub Langley Hub, a residence group for Langley, has been regularly meeting at the Langley Tavern pub to discuss ways in which to save St Francis Church for community use. During the course of these meetings, it was agreed that Langley Hub would like to organise a few local events for the community such as repairing the bench near to the Langley Tavern bus stop; do a litter pick around the local area; adopt the Langley road sign so that it can be kept clean and its plant tub lled with seasonal plants. However, to make these ideas a reality, we urgently need volunteers to take on particular roles. We are looking for a treasurer and also help with administering the Langley Hub website. If you would like to help, please come along to our Tuesday evening meetings at 7pm, the Langley Tavern. For more information visit: langleyhub.co.uk or email: langleycommunityhall@gmail.com
