Alister was Deputy Head at Bournemouth School for Girls for 5 years before being appointed as Headteacher in 2004; he retired in 2022 a er some 18 years later. BSG is a state grammar school for 1200 girls and is a highly successful school with results consistently placing them as one of the top performing schools in the country. In retirement, Alister gives talks about his life as a headteacher, speaking passionately about helping the students to become the best they can be, as well as detailing the many and varied skills needed to be a successful headteacher. A former student at BSG was Olivia Burt who tragically died at the age of 20 when a metal barrier collapsed, falling on to her when she was queueing outside a club in Durham. Olivia’s parents set up a charitable foundation in her name, Olivia Inspires, With Father’s Day just around the corner on Sunday 16th June, why not shop locally and put a smile on a local retailer’s face as well as your Dad’s!
