Reviewing all Award entries at the Spring Fair, BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Frances Tophill, said: “There were so many memorable gardens at the BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair this year. The award assessors have had a really tough job on their hands and I’m absolutely delighted for all the brilliant winners. Whether you’re a first-time gardener or a seasoned grower, it’s pretty much impossible to spend a day at the Spring Fair at Beaulieu without taking home an armful of new plants, a head full of exciting ideas to try, and some expert tips and advice. These wonderful, awardwinning Showcase Gardens and Beautiful Borders are a credit to the teams behind them and are sure to inspire visitors.” Headline sponsor, Hillier, created a naturalistic woodland-themed feature garden, designed to complement the Spring Fair’s New Forest setting and inspire visitors to create their own pockets of woodland at home. Highlights include bark paths, subtle shade-friendly planting including natural woodland plants like Hellebores, Ferns, Foxgloves and Primroses, long grassy borders and a canopy of large semi-mature trees. Lord Montagu of Beaulieu said: “It is always a pleasure to see this event gracing the Beaulieu Parkland, signalling, as it does, the start of spring. In common with our visitors, I find a lot to interest me in the stands and displays, and enjoy seeing what the exhibitors have lined up for us.” For more information on this year’s winners please visit: www.bbcgardenersworldfair.com Continued from page 4 Together - winner of Best Beautiful Border and a Platinum award All are welcome to go along to Jubilee Hall in Fawley on Fridays, 10am to 12noon, for the Waterside Foodbank’s weekly drop-in.
