So, why not go along and make a day of it? A BBQ will take place on the patio overlooking the picturesque golf course as well as the golf clubhouse serving food and refreshments to cater for all throughout the day. e name “Bramshott” is a modern word which originates from “Brenbresete” which was rst mentioned in the Domesday book of 1086 and means “a projecting piece of land where Brambles grow” – very apt for the beautiful golf course overlooking Southampton Water! e golf course was opened in 1974 and so too was the Bramshott Hill Golf Club when a small group of keen golfers invited all interested members of the public to Club Constitution and Rules – Bramshott Hill Golf Club was born. Pete Summers was one of the rst men to hit a ball down the rst fairway. He became an energetic member of the Senior Section. Today BHGC comprises of four active sections; Seniors, Mens, Womens and Juniors. Richard Bland a LIV and PGA Senior started in the Junior Section at BHGC which is still thriving today with recent successes across Hampshire. Nothing stands still at Dibden Golf Centre and BHGC are delighted to see that Nathan Cook and Adam Freeman who recently opened the Aces Centre at the golf course, are providing a two-bay golf simulator and golf lessons. Something that all members and non-members can enjoy. Forest Militaria e next New Forest Militaria Fair will be on Wednesday 7th August from 7pm to 9.30pm in the Colbury Church Rooms, Deerleap Lane, Colbury (near Ashurst) SO40 7EH. ere are stalls o ering a variety of militaria items, and these events are an ideal venue for dealers, collectors and enthusiasts to get together to buy, sell, swap, exhibit and talk about all aspects of militaria. Lyndhurst Village Artists Exhibition A Group of friends will be holding a selling exhibition of a wide variety of original paintings and cards at e Community Centre, Central Car Park Lyndhurst, SO43 7NY. e Exhibition will run from Saturday 17th to Thursday 22nd August.
