BHGC (Bramshott Hill Golf Club) Despite the weather 43 ladies supported the annual Lady Captain’s Day at Dibden Golf Centre on ursday 30th May. A South African theme was the order of the day as Debbie Campbell, this year’s Lady Captain, displayed her South African roots from the zebra table cloths adorning all the tables at the a er meal party ensuring that gi s for the winners re ected her beloved heritage. Organisation is key to Lady Captain’s Day and all the players were delighted to have “Café 11” open and serving treats between the 11th and 12th holes, which was especially welcome given the persistent rain. A band of volunteers and keen bakers made for a memorable day! Sue Lewis took the title of Lady Captain’s winner 2024 on the 18 hole course. Sue had a decisive win with 34 points and a birdie on the rst! A number of ladies also played the nine-hole short course with Jane Lancaster the nine-hole winner. Other winners included; Jan Walker for nearest the Pin on the 4th hole (short course), Julie Bailey for nearest the Pin on the 11th (18 course), Sheila Rothwell rst division winner, Sue Hallet second division winner and Gloria Gordon won the third division. Lady Captain’s Day is about raising funds for a chosen charity. is year was no di erent and £339 was raised for the Hythe Pier Heritage Association. is included money raised from Ann’s car boot cake sale, auction of prizes, cash donations and money raised from the sale of ra e tickets. Nearest the pins: G Tourle (4th) R Gooding (11th) and Pro’s Approach: C Ellis (15th). 11th June the ‘DOGS’ played their favourite competition, the 18 hole 3 team Texas Scramble, played in dry sunny weather and with their usual add ons. Winning team: N Dixon, A Rogers & D Thorpe (63.3) 2nd: D Webster, G Tourle & E NKomo (65.7) 3rd: D Lowman, B Barnard, & B Marwood. Nearest the pin winners: G Tourle (4th) D Thorpe (11th) N Dixon (17th). 18th June the ‘DOGS’ played a 3 team Bowmaker competition and all those usual add competitions for all those happy wine drinkers. Bramshott Hill Seniors Results Monday 10th June: Once again Bramshott Hill Seniors gathered for their Monday morning competition. irty- ve players were ready to take on the challenge. e game was a Stableford quali er and a good game was anticipated by all. e course conditions had greatly improved over the previous few weeks but “Winter Lies” are still in force, the weather was predicted to be fair for the whole morning. On completion some very good scores were returned and the results were as follows: Division 1: 1st Ian Blandford 36 points, 2nd Stuart Bulbrooke 34 points, 3rd Gary Howe 33 points. Division 2: 1st David Wyatt 32 points, 2nd John Bailey 31 points, 3rd David Kellaway 31 points. Wednesday 12th and Bramshott Hill Seniors prepared to enter their inter club competition against Wellow Golf Club Seniors. Again, the weather was being kind and the course was in good condition. Six games set out for the Match Play competition all wanting to win. It is a feature of the Seniors Golf matches that although everyone wants to win, the games are played in a good and jovial spirit. As can be seen from the photograph, the seniors do not let age stop them from playing. Johnny Hooper is an example of being innovative, at over eighty years of age he still nds a way to get around the course. Well played Johnny. On this occasion the honours went to the Wellow Seniors who won by 3.5 games to 2.5 games. ere followed a very enjoyable meal in the clubhouse where all the old jokes, stories and boasts were resurrected. On completion everyone made their way home a er a very enjoyable day. Bramshott Hill Seniors team Brian Randall Cup ursday 13th June, 37 New Forest Golf Club Seniors competed in this strokeplay competition o the white tees on what turned out to be a dry though cloudy day with a chill in the air. e trophy is played in memory of a very popular and much missed past member of the Seniors. In Division 2, Ross Matthews led the eld with a highly creditable nett 67, however Division 1’s Steve Duckett simply romped home having carded 14 pars and 2 birdies for a nett 65 to win the Brian Randall Cup. Wayne Niles won nearest the pin on the 13th. Division 1: 1st Steve Duckett 65 nett, 2nd Chris Angell 70 nett (back 9=33), 3rd Barry Nicholas 70 nett (back 9=34). Division 2: 1st Ross Matthews 67 nett, 2nd Trevor Davies 68 nett, 3rd Berry Money 69 nett (back 9=31). Commiserations to Neil Edmondson and Dave Barrett also with nett 69 but 35 and 36 respectively on the back 9. June Monthly Medals e weather was warm and dry under cloudy skies on Tuesday 4th June as 45 New Forest Golf Club Seniors competed for the June monthly medals playing o the white tees. e top 4 positions in Division 2 were separated by just 1 stroke each with Phil Kilburn emerging winner on nett 67. In Division 1, Steve Duckett’s 10 pars and 2 birdies ensured he ended up level par, but that was not quite su cient as Roy Nelson romped home with 7 pars and a birdie of his own, nishing 3 under par with nett 66. Mike Wharton took the prize for nearest the pin on the 2nd hole. Division 1: 1st Roy Nelson 66 nett, 2nd Steve Duckett 69 nett, 3rd Barry Nicholas 70 nett, 4th Mike Broom 71 nett (back 9=31) (commiserations to Terry Gordon and Robin Swanston also with 71 nett but higher back 9 scores). Division 2: 1st Phil Kilburn 67 nett, 2nd Rob Young 68 nett, 3rd Terry Jones 69 nett, 4th John Ireland 70 nett.
