With an estimated 52,100 people in Hampshire experiencing some form of vision impairment - and 9,000 of those facing signi cant sight loss in the New Forest area - the services o ered through OpenSight’s hubs play a vital role in delivering practical advice, emotional support, and assistance with digital technologies. ese services help individuals maintain independence and stay connected to their families and communities. However, OpenSight relies on the dedication of volunteers to continue running its vital services. We are currently looking for volunteers to assist at the New Milton Social Club, which meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 2pm–4pm at Bashley Village Hall. Volunteering at the social club is a wonderful way to give back to the community, helping blind and partially sighted people enjoy meaningful social interactions and providing support to those who need it most. We are calling on local residents to get involved - whether you can spare a few hours each month or o er regular support, your time will make a huge di erence in the lives of people with vision impairments. Volunteering with OpenSight is a rewarding experience, giving you the chance to directly impact someone’s quality of life and foster a more inclusive community. Debbie Ross, Deputy CEO at OpenSight, shares the importance of these roles: “Our hubs and social clubs are a lifeline for many individuals who are living with vision impairment. By volunteering, you’ll be offering practical support and companionship to people who may otherwise feel isolated. It’s an incredibly rewarding experience, and we’re grateful for the generosity of time that our volunteers give.” For those interested in volunteering or learning more about the Information and Advice Hubs, visit www.opensight.org.uk or call 02380 641244. “ART FOR ALL”: ENJOY THIS ART DEMONSTRATION AT WATERSIDE ART GROUP IN HYTHE Local professional artist and tutor John Edwards, a long-standing supporter of Waterside Art Group, will be presenting a demonstration on the subject of “How the Use of Colour A ects the Mood of a Painting” on Tuesday 29th October.
