All the sh were measured and weighed and returned to the sea as quickly as possible. points, 5th Charlie Nash 70 points, 6th Neil Mitchener 69 points, 7th Jack Nash 65 points, 8th Daniel White 59 points, 9th Paul Dibden 49 points. e weather continued to be gloriously warm and sunny as 48 New Forest Golf Club Seniors employed a bewildering variety of cooling devices whilst playing in an event which requires teamwork, encouragement, adaptability and good course management. e Phil Wright Trophy is a Stableford Pairs Aggregate competition played o the red tees, it is an annual competition commemorating a former member who sadly passed in 2023. Phil’s widow, Gill, plays in the competition and sponsored one of the prizes. e winners this year were Graham Wyatt and Peter Reed with a creditable 74 points. Results: Zone 1: 1st Malcolm Stote 165 points, 2nd Paul Watson 124 points, 3rd Peter Chamberlain 111 points, 4th Garry Mann 62 points. Zone 2: 1st Chris Ellis 190 points, 2nd Martin Pink 186 points, 3rd Andy Hopkins 156 points, 4th Glenn Short 46 points, 5th Steve Monckton 36 points, 6th Marc Duncan 35 points. Best large round sh of 97 cm was a smooth-hound caught by Chris Ellis. On Thursday 9th July Geo Watts will give a talk titled ‘Monk, Marquis and Mystery’ giving an insightful, literary focused talk exploring the origins of the Gothic ction genre of the 18th century. SUMMER CELEBRATION AT HYTHE PRIMARY SCHOOL Get ready for an a ernoon of summer fun as Hythe Primary School hosts its annual Summer Celebration on Friday 10th July, from 3pm to 6pm. Organised by the PTA, Friends of Hythe Primary School, this year’s event promises plenty of excitement for all ages, including crazy golf, a gladiator duel, games, stalls, refreshments, and much more. Thanks to the generous support of local sponsors, families and the wider community can look forward to a fun- lled a ernoon packed with entertainment. PTA chairwoman Lois Wellman said: “The Summer Celebration is one of the highlights of our school year and we’re determined to make it bigger, brighter, and more memorable than ever. We’re inviting everyone in the community to come along, join the fun, and celebrate summer with us.” All money raised from the event will go towards a new play trail for pupils at the school. Lois added: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to Lambertlux Electrical Solutions, TMT Legal Services, Specsavers and all the local businesses and community members who have supported this year’s event. Art in Lymington Lymington Arts Group hold meetings in the McLellan Hall at Lymington Community Centre, New Street, Lymington SO41 9BQ, on the second Friday afternoon of each month (except February and August). Meetings start at 2.30pm and normally last two hours. eir next meeting is on Friday 10th July for Podi Lawrence - Portraits in Oils. Visitors are very welcome and pay £3.50. On 14th and 15th August they will be holding their Art on the Green Exhibition and a ordable art sale at Milford on Sea. Romsey Beggars Fair Romsey’s Beggars Fair team is busily planning for its next annual free summer music festival on Saturday 11th July! Now in its 32nd year, the event will feature some 150 acts across over 25 venues in, or close to, the town. Uniquely, it is run solely for and managed by the local community. Recent events have seen around 7,000 people throng through the streets with amazing feedback received from all ages. e best of local musicians will bring you an eclectic mix of folk, jazz, blues, soul, rock, bluegrass, classical and world music. Together with colourful dance displays and children’s entertainment, there is plenty of entertainment on o er. A number of town centre roads will be closed for the day; the website will have full information about access and parking nearer the time.
