Hythe Pier Heritage Association (HPHA) will be staging its annual music festival ‘Rock the Pier’ on Saturday 15th July. e Trav Cats will open the proceedings at 12.30 on a specially erected stage on the Promenade behind the Lord Nelson. Johnson Van Dykes, Vision, REMbrandt and Stone Branches will follow through the a ernoon until e Soulcatchers round o the festival with an hour-long session commencing at 6.30pm. e event is all about engaging with the community and of course raising funds towards the restoration of the historic Hythe Pier and iconic Pier Railway. HPHA merchandising will be on sale; this includes the 2023 Rock the Pier T-shirts. e Scratch Project will continue to sponsor the main stage with the Lord Nelson, PPL/PRS and Zillwoods also continuing sponsorship. New sponsors this year include Philpotts Fish and Chips and New Forest Care in Hythe who provide much needed care for vulnerable children and young people. ey are currently recruiting; they need your help too. is year’s Grand Draw tickets at £1 each will be available until minutes before the draw takes place. Prizes include: 4 adult tickets for Paultons Park, family tickets for Exbury, 10 Hythe Ferry journeys, a Blue Funnel cruise, 2 tickets for a Shieldhall cruise, furniture voucher for Rustic Dreams, Fairweather’s voucher and much more. Prior to that, on Saturday 15th July, they have a return visit from the King’s Singers.  eir programme typically has a rst half of serious music o en from the 16th and 17th centuries and a second half of lighter, fun music; always entertaining! e concerts will be held at Beaulieu Abbey Church and start at 7pm; doors open at 6.30pm. Car Boot Sale A Car Boot Sale is taking place at Memorial Car Park in Totton on Sunday 16th July, Sunday 6th August and Sunday 20th August from 9am to 12noon (weather permitting). No booking is required, sellers from 8am (for safety, sellers please do not leave before 11.30am). Any size car £5 and the area is hard standing. Please take your own tables.
