It’s comical that I am writing this on the beach at Pentewan Sands! We’ve seen dolphins playing in the bay and a young seal popped up along the shore. Magic! 1st June Foresters Flower Club were treated to a demonstration by Jennifer omson, based on her love of the sea and all within it. Her rst arrangement was beautiful and was an underwater snapshot. She used a large piece of cork decorated with strings of white ‘coral’ and blue tinsel mimicking sparkly sea. Jennifer used 2 pieces of oral foam in dishes (secured) to make a double placement of small vertical arrangements, creating a look of coral growing from the seabed. She used variegated pitysporum and leather leaf fern, shades of green to mimic seaweed, dry moss and grasses. Small headed white roses for height were interspersed with shades of contrasting blue eryngium. Other gorgeous arrangements demonstrated her range of skills. 2 included Hogarth Curves. Others, deep mauve calla lily stems were manipulated into curve shapes by rubbing between thumb and index nger. Floral foam spheres had elaeagnus leaves pinned and dried on, which gave a wavy pale edge in contrast to the deep green. Magenta stocks and deep burgundy celosia were used as a nod to seaweed and coral. We had 8 beautiful arrangements and exciting bunches of owers for the ra e! Monday 5th June was our ‘SWISH PARTY’ to raise money for Maggie’s Cancer Care and Oracle Cancer Trust charities. We raised a wonderful £500! As well as supporting wonderful causes, it’s become a welcomed social event - a couple of hour’s catching up with friends over tea and cake and the bonus of additions for the wardrobe - all for £5 and a ra e!
