Local beekeeper, Nick Tustian, gave an amazing talk to Hythe and Waterside Rotary alongside an in depth presentation which explained not only the work that goes into keeping bees, but how the bees themselves play such an important part in the biodiversity on which we all depend for our survival. Nick’s talk entitled “Why do I keep bees, when I don’t even like honey?” kept members and their guests enthralled and concluded with a very keen question and answer session. Nick also brought along some of his Nick Tustian with Jim Whitehouse, who is wearing a beekeeper’s veil and tucking into a jar of honey honey ‘Nicks Nectar’ for everyone to try. President Jim Whitehouse said: “We were delighted to listen to Nick’s passion and enthusiasm for a hobby he clearly loves. We all found it fascinating and will look at bees and honey in a totally different way from now on!” St John’s Clean Up! When Rotarians noticed the build up of garden rubbish behind St John’s Church in Hythe, they decided to o er their help to get it cleaned up. Rotarian Ian Wheeler, his wife Christine and his son Carlton were joined by Church Warden Craig and cleared 9 ton-bags of garden waste from the rear of the church grounds. is was all taken away by trailer to be shredded and composted.
