Germinis, da odils and tulips were added. A rectangular piece of wood with canes xed in the wood provided the mechanics for this design. Alliums, pink gerberas, blue clematis and hellebores were placed into test tubes together with umbrella ferns at the base of the arrangement. e third design featured a long log with two columns of tall twigs with more twigs placed on top horizontally. Orange calla lilies, orange tulips and Nick Grounds pink spider germinis together with sprays of asparagus fern completed the design. A large glass cylinder vase was used for this design. Longi orum lilies together with some pussywillow and North American wild oats were added with narcissus being placed at the base of the vase. Tall white twigs were used for this design. Test tubes were used to contain the blue clematis and red Gloriosa lilies were used at the base of the design. Floral foam was used for this horizontal design. A selection of foliage including eucalyptus provided the outline before adding beautiful pink roses. Two beautiful pink orchid plants were placed in a hanging basket covered in twigs which resembled a large nest. A very large old metal colander was used for the last design. Sorbus and horse chestnut were placed in the centre together with white gerberas. Tuberose, Sway Open Gardens on Sunday 9th June heads of viburnam opulus and fern were added at the base of the design. A wonderful a ernoon with lots of fun and laughter. Nick is well used to having a captive audience as he is also an auctioneer. e next meeting will take place on Tuesday 14th May, when the demonstrator will be Andrea Hilliard. Seventeen beautiful village gardens of di erent shapes and sizes will be open to visitors at this popular biennial event in the heart of the New Forest National Park. A free park-and-ride bus will operate on the day, leaving the car park in Jubilee Fields every half hour from 11am and stopping near the open gardens. e last bus will leave Jubilee Fields at 4.30pm. At Sway Youth Centre you will nd a plant stall o ering a huge variety of plants, with a plant ‘crèche’ where you can safely leave your plants while visiting the gardens. Outside, Oakhaven Hospice will be holding a ra e with lovely prizes to be won. Visit the Village Church Rooms for refreshments, where you’ll nd delicious homemade food as well as hot and cold drinks. Tickets cost £10 on the day, or £8 in advance, accompanied children go free. All proceeds to Oakhaven Hospice and Sway Village organisations.
