If so, we’d like to hear from you. Dan Turner who lives in Poole, Dorset and Bridget Musselwhite who lives in Totton, connected through their joint e orts being living relatives of the Osman family. The Osman family were well known in and around Totton back in the day, the parents being omas Henry Osman (a wellknown Railway veteran who worked on the local railway for over 40 years) and Emma Jane Osman his wife, they had a family of twelve children occupying 7 Haselbury Road in Totton from 1900 until 1963 when their daughter Alice Longman passed away. Their children were in age order Harriet Snellgrove, Ellen Hawes, Florence Cavill, Albert Osman, omas Osman junior, Elizabeth Frampton, Emily Lane, Alice Longman, Lilian Pragnell, George Osman, James Osman and their youngest son Jack Osman who was killed aged 19 years old in 1918 ghting in the Great War. eir sons were all active in the First World War within army, navy and military personnel. eir grandson William Snellgrove was a very well-known ward councillor until the late 1970’s for Totton, having had Snellgrove Close Totton named a er him. We’ve so far traced nine living relatives of these families mentioned, who have been most helpful to supply photographs, certificates, memo r i e s and their own personal stories that we’ve captured for future generations. Join Waterside Gateway Club for a Charity Walk Waterside Gateway Club are taking part in the Rotary’s annual charity walk in Beaulieu on Sunday 30th June. Could you join their team of walkers and help them to raise money for the Club? e walk in the ancient private woods of the Beaulieu Estate starts and nishes at the Treehouse Study Centre. You are guaranteed to have a lot of fun and laughs whichever route you decide to take and can join in with a Bug Trail on the way. ere is plenty to see along the way, a water Lilly pond, Cob cottage, and the house in the woods famous for its special operations connections in WWII. Go along with sturdy footwear, appropriate clothing for the weather and water and snacks. Everyone who nishes the walk will get a certi cate and a wellearned cup of tea and a homemade cake. e walk is organised by Hythe and Waterside Rotary, 75% of your sponsorship money will go to Waterside Gateway Club and 25% to the Rotary’s own charities.
