Guests savoured the evening, enhanced by the stunning backdrop of cruise ships departing past Hythe’s historic Victorian pier. Ashleigh Mutimear-MacMillan, the owner of the I AM Group, emphasised the core philosophy of her organisation: “Collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. We partner with like-minded individuals and organisations to facilitate extraordinary events that bring people together. Through seamless collaboration, we transform ideas into unforgettable experiences, leaving a lasting imprint on our communities.” Re ecting on the event, Ashleigh added: “It was a privilege to host the first event of its kind on our cherished Victorian pier. We transformed the waiting room into an intimate evening of cheese and wine. Local cheese expert and professional judge Jonathan Broomfield gave a fantastic talk on the selection of exquisite cheeses he curated for the evening. These were expertly paired with wines hand-selected by the I AM Group.” e evening featured ve specially chosen cheeses from Harvey’s, including a Dorset Cranbourne Blue and a Wiltshire Lyburn Garlic & Nettle, accompanied by wines provided by the I AM Group. Jonathan Broom eld expressed his delight, saying: “Tonight, I fulfilled a personal dream of presenting a cheese talk Cheese and Wine on The Pier in the unique setting of Hythe Pier. Partnering with Ashleigh to deliver this intimate evening was a fantastic success.” Hythe resident Diana Pemble re ected on the event, noting, “I had a lovely time. It truly was something special.” FOR WINE LOVERS e Brockenhurst Wine Club (BWC) meets monthly in Brockenhurst Village Hall, usually on the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7.30pm. Open to all, members explore a wide range of wines that people may not have come across, in a range of budgets and to learn something about how and where they are made, as well as getting to know other like-minded people. Lymington Seafood Festival! From award-winning rhythm & blues, Celtic folk, 80’s electro pop to a full on Ska takeover, this year’s Lymington Seafood Festival has something for everyone! Taking place at Bath Road in Lymington, on Friday 12th July to Sunday 14th July as well as the music the organisers are busy cooking up a brilliant menu of delicious food to sample with a heap of new stands joining them. For more information and tickets please visit: www. lymingtonseafoodfestival. co.uk A Busy Time for the Trefoil Guilds Trefoil Guilds from the Hampshire West area have had an extremely busy time recently. Members from the Walking Group met up for a guided walk around Southampton Old Town, nishing, of course, at a local hostelry for lunch. e members who meet monthly on a Zoom meeting visited the American Museum in Bath for the day. e museum had been chosen as a central point to meet the members from Cornwall, Devon and Gloucestershire. It was lovely for them to see everyone in person as opposed to a screen! e South West Region Annual Meeting was held in Jersey this year, so members boarded boat or plane to travel to St Helier for a long weekend. Many travelled on the Wednesday so that they could view the Liberation Day Parade on the ursday. On the Friday evening the Jersey Guild entertained everyone at a reception at Vin d’Honneur, St Helier. e Annual Meeting was held at Les Quennevais School and on arrival they were greeted by the School Steel Band, very tting as the weather was glorious so it gave a real Caribbean feel to the occasion. A er the business, they were privileged to have the Island Archivist giving them a talk about some important ladies of Jersey. ey also had a chance to relax, visiting places of interest including the Samares Botanic Gardens at the invitation of Seigneur de Samares who gave Region members free access to visit the gardens on the Sunday. A wonderful opportunity for everyone to meet up with friends from the Region before returning to their own areas. Guild members within the County continue to attend their monthly meetings, where they enjoy learning new skills like needle felting, glass painting, fundraising for local charities and just having an enjoyable time together. New members are welcome to join them, details can be found on the Trefoil Guild website: www. trefoilguild.co.uk Hidden in Plain Sight Reminders of WW2 in the New Forest New Forest and Waterside U3A hold their twice monthly meetings in St Andrew’s Church Hall, Dibden Purlieu. e next meeting is on Tuesday 2nd July for ‘Hidden in Plain Sight reminders of WW2 in the New Forest’ by Marc Heighway. Followed on Tuesday 16th July for a talk titled ‘Harlots, Dung and Glory, the history of Portsmouth - Part 3’ by Andrew Negus. Tea and biscuits are available a er the talk, and the meeting ends at approximately 3.30pm. New Forest and Waterside have many interest groups such as gardening, history, discussion, skittles and much more. ere is usually a luncheon once a month, twice a year at Brockenhurst College. Other activities have included a visit to Hilliers for the lights, Lepe House open garden, theatre trips, garden visits, local brewery visit, snowdrops at Welford, the Hawk Conservancy, Arundel Carpet of owers, the Waterside Heritage Centre and trips on Solent Dolphin.
