During their study of the Ancient Greeks, the children were asked to create their own mythical beast, considering appearance, habitat, diet and special powers. They created nonchronological reports, full of incredible language which sought to build an image of the beast for the reader. e writing was judged, by Tim Parsons from Hythe & Waterside Rotary Club who was impressed by the way in which their descriptions brought the beasts to life in his mind. Both Tim and Craig from Hythe & Waterside rotary club were able to join the school for the Star of the Week assembly to award their chosen winners with a Waterstones voucher. Alongside this, Orchard’s School Librarian, Mrs Tim and Craig from Hythe & Waterside Rotary Club along with Orchard School Librarian Mrs Chalmers and the winning authors Macdonald Hotels & Resorts Brews Up Coffee Partnership to Provide 15,000 School Meals Independent hospitality group, Macdonald Hotels & Resorts, has funded 15,000 school meals for children in countries including Kenya as part of an innovative new partnership with direct trade co ee producers Paddy & Scott’s. The Lunch Box programme by Paddy & Scott’s, which has now been fully rolled out across Macdonald Hotels & Resorts venues, is a pioneering project designed to fund meals for children living in coffee-growing regions around the world. As part of the partnership, Lunch Box co ee is served in all of Macdonald Hotels & Resorts’ 32 properties throughout the UK, with guests able to support this charitable e ort by enjoying breakfast, a ernoon tea or a light refreshment in the hotel of their choice. Each bag of co ee funds a meal for a child in Kenya as part of e Muchomba Project, and other co eegrowing regions around the world. A joint venture between a Kenyan co ee farm and Ipswich-based Paddy & Scott’s, e Muchomba Project helps fund life-changing initiatives in the Kenyan farming community. e project is currently financing improvement works at the local school, ranging from installation of windows and toilets, to running clean drinking water.
