Harveys is a family business run by Amanda Broom eld along with her children Pippa and Jonathan and has proudly been part of Hythe’s High Street for over 16 years. As well as an extensive menu of sandwiches, baguettes, paninis, and toasted sandwiches all freshly made to order, Harveys sell pies and pastries which are hot & crisp from the oven. Or if you are looking for something more virtuous they also make up fresh salad pots with your choice of lling. As a local business Harveys are keen to support local producers and stock a mouth-watering selection of homemade cakes and bakes from Hythe based Dotty Dolly Bakes, as well as honey from nearby Ashlett Creek produce, eggs from Pondhead Farm and have a freezer full of delicious New Forest Ice Cream and lollies. Harveys also have a fantastic variety of sweets with both prewrapped and pick ‘n’ mix sweets to choose from and with a little bit of notice they can also make up sweet cones for parties and events. At the other end of the shop is the cheese counter, which was set up by cheese expert Jonathan, joining his passion with the family business, in 2020. Jonathan has over 17 years of experience in the cheese industry and has been a professional cheese judge for many awards from the International Cheese & Dairy from the cheese dairies themselves. Harveys can cater for all your cheese needs whether you want to buy an individual cheese to try, a selection of cheeses for a dinner party or a box of cheese to give as present, and they have even supplied a number of cheese wedding cakes. If you have a favourite cheese that they don’t currently stock, have a chat with Jonathan, he’d be delighted to try and help order some on your behalf. Pippa, Amanda and Jonathan Each summer Lymington comes alive when it hosts their annual awardwinning seafood festival which takes place on 14th-16th July at Bath Road Park. is year foodies can enjoy a dining experience at Alex’s Kitchen, a popup restaurant led by former Michelin starred executive chef at the Jetty and Harbour Hotels, Alex Aitken. His festival menu has been curated to showcase the best seasonal produce from land and sea. It’s also about creating an experience, with a blend of classic cooking techniques combined with the theatre of a giant American BBQ smoker. Take a break from grazing around the festival with a spot of retail therapy and it wouldn’t be a festival without some great live music with ‘Tina Turner’ taking the stage for Saturday’s tribute night. ere’s a full line-up of bands and artists across the whole weekend, from blues, soul, rag time, electro pop and plenty of cheesy covers to get you up dancing! A second acoustic stage is home to local ‘up and coming’ talent and street performers roam the festival putting a smile on everyone’s faces. Each year the festival support’s a local charity and organisers are delighted to be teaming up with Oakhaven Hospice. Organisers are also looking to build on their sustainability e orts which saw 67.5% of all festival waste recycled in 2022. Visit: www.lymingtonseafoodfestival. co.uk e rst dedicated New Forest Food Festival will take place over the weekend of Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th August, at the Hinton Admiral Event Field, on the Hinton Admiral Estate. e festival will provide a chance to discover a selection of glorious New Forest and regional produce, with a mix of artisan bread, cheese, chilli jams, cakes, chocolates, gluten-free snacks, shortbread, cra ales, New Forest Cider, speciality gins, and much more. To make sure no-one goes hungry on the day, there will be something to satisfy all tastebuds: burgers, Tex Mex, freshly cooked stone- red pizzas, street food, traditional spit roasts, seafood, artisan co ee, cra beers and awardwinning spirits. Another feature of the festival will be the Cra Market, which will showcase work from local and regional cra ers, with a wide and diverse array of stalls. ey will include cra s such as textiles, jewellery, so toys, paintings, wood cra , collectables, ceramics, sculpture, so furnishings to name just some. No food festival would be complete without a chef demo stage, with some of the best in the region showing o their skills, as they conjure up their favourite dishes. ey will demonstrate all the tricks of the trade including short cuts, so attendees can re-create the meals at home (sit near the front to increase the chance of a tasting!). Whilst enjoying the food and drink of the festival, enjoy live music and other entertainment, including popular local ski e group Dr. Beatroot, with other acts to be announced in due course.
