Very high scoring on a hot summers day accumulating in lots of points deductions. Winner: D Riddett (42), 2nd B Baker (40), 3rd C Ellis (39). Nearest the pins: N Dixon (4th), B Dash (11th) and Pro’s Approach: C Peall (15th). 2’s competition winners: T Oliver & B Marwood. 13th June the DOGS played a 3 Man Bowmaker Competition with the usual exciting competitions for all to enjoy in the very extreme sunshine. Winning Team: J Crumpler, C Gibbon & C Ellis (90), 2nd J Stoker, B Phillips & B Dash (89), 3rd B Cox, M Drodge & B Baker (88). Nearest the pin winners: R James (2nd), A McCaffrey (11th) and Pro’s Approach: B Baker (7th) 2’s competition winners: C Viney, D Webster & M Eve. Highest stableford score: Ursula Symes (40 Points). 20th June theDOGS played their Annual ‘Midsummer’ Madness Competition, early morning start playing two rounds on the Dibden nine hole course. Teams of ve played a single stableford shotgun start competition, followed by a hearty breakfast and prize presentation. Winners: 1st B Phillips, 2nd T Oliver, Bramshott Hill Seniors Results Wednesday 31st May: Once again Bramshott Seniors gathered at Dibden Golf Centre for an inter club match v New Forest Seniors team, the weather was once again glorious and perfect for golf. Having struggled for a win at the beginning of the season Mike Wells and his team were now on a winning streak and were intent on continuing this run. A er a very enjoyable match the usual dinner and drinks in the clubhouse and terrace the result was announced. Bramshott Hill had managed to win by ve games to one. “Come on the Hill” came the cry as Mike eagerly awaited the next challenge. Monday 5th June: 44 Bramshott Hill Seniors gathered for a ‘Greensome’ game. is is a team game where both players tee o and the best drive is chosen to play. e person whose drive is chosen does not play the ball this privilege falls to his partner and the game continues in this mode until the ball is holed. e results were: 1st P Collins and N Tricky with a score of 58, 2nd G Bloomfield and P Lebrun with a score of 59, 3rd P Mortimer and B Cox with a score of 60, 4th K Boot and R Short with a score of 61. Wednesday 8th June: Once again Bramshott Hill Seniors gathered on a glorious summer morning for an inter club home match against Portsmouth Golf Club. Having won their last four matches Mike Wells, the seniors captain was eager for the match, anticipating another Bramshot Seniors win. e course was in excellent condition thanks to grounds man Gary and his sta , who have performed miracles a er such a wet winter. Now though they are praying for a little rain. e match set o in good spirits and a good day was had by all. At the meal in the clubhouse a er the match the results were revealed. Bramshott Hill won by 4.5 games to 1.5. Mike was looking very chu ed with his winning streak continuing. Laurie Burn, 2023 winner of the Frampton Cup Titchmarsh 39 pts (back 9=23), 3rd Mike Cavaney 39 pts (back 9=22, back 6=14), (Rob Anderson also had 39 pts, back 9=22 and back 6=13). Tuesday 13th June on a scorching hot day with the temperature rising up to close on 30 degrees, 43 New Forest Golf Club Seniors competed in this club wide stableford competition o the white tees. On Sunday, the mens section’s Desmond Keegan had set a very high bar at 42 points with a back 9 score of 25, so a very good score would be needed to best that. Division 2’s Je Hewett and Division 1’s Hugh Marchant also both scored 42 points but with fewer points on the back 9. Laurie Burn however carded 1 under par gross 68 which included 9 pars and 5 birdies for a score of 44 points, a very convincing total to win the Frampton Cup which will be presented at the club’s AGM towards the end of the year. Division 1: 1st Laurie Burn 44 pts, 2nd Hugh Marchant 42 pts, 3rd Roy Nelson 39 pts. Division 2: 1st Jeff Hewett 42 pts, 2nd Dave FRAMPTON CUP prepared to take on a team from Wellow Golf Club. A er a winning run of the last ve matches anticipation by the Bramshott team was high. ‘Come on the Hill’ was the cry as the teams set o . A er completing eighteen holes in some very hot weather everyone was eager to see the result. Bramshott’s Captain Mike Wells stood to announce the result with a big smile on his face. Yes, Bramshott Seniors had won again by ve games to one. Monday 19th June: Bramshott Seniors were ready to play for the Veterans Cup. One of the very prestigious Senior’s trophies. A eld of forty-one players took to the course with the weather once again dry and sunny. e game was a Medal Quali er played from the yellow tees. Some very good scores were returned and the results were as follows: Division One: 1st Peter Mortimer Nett 66, 2nd Mike Wells Nett 69, 3rd Kevin Boot Nett 71. Division Two: 1st Phil Lebrun Nett 68 (count back), 2nd Bill Merrett Nett 68, 3rd Michael Newland Nett 68; Division ree: 1st Eddie Moseley Nett 61, 2nd John Annetts Nett 62, 3rd Eddie Ford Nett 63. e overall winner was Eddie Moseley with his magni cent score of nett 61. Eddie will be presented with the Veterans Cup at the Christmas Dinner later in the year. Jeff Hewett with the Brian Randall cup Thursday 15th June in what was a tting tribute to a popular past member of New Forest Golf Club’s Seniors Section; a large eld of 47 Seniors competed in this strokeplay competition o the white tees. It was yet another dry hot day but that did not seem to faze too many of the participants, as well over half scored nett par or better. Pete Ayers came in rst in division 1 with a very creditable nett 64 which included 6 pars and 1 birdie, but it was division 2’s Jeff Hewett who claimed the trophy with his nett score of 61. Division 1: 1st Pete Ayers 64 nett, 2nd Steve Duckett 65 nett (back 9=30), 3rd Brian Roberts 65 nett (back 9=31). Division 2: 1st Jeff Hewett 61 nett, 2nd Graham Fearis 63 BRIAN RANDALL CUP nett, 3rd Rob Young 65 nett.
